On Lodi Unified possibly cutting 10 teaching positions due to enrollment decline:
"It's easy for administration to lay off teachers, rather than cutting themselves back on their salaries or cutting their own hours back to 24 or 32 per week. Why are they never actively considering cuts at the administration level aimed at their own departments and maybe even themselves?" — taNdc
"They [need] to cut all of the people (old timers) in administration. They don't even do anything related to teaching the kids, only taking the money. If anything we need to go after them to save money for the children. The teachers are the ones that affect the kids the most, and are the least paid." — marzo2008
"Get rid of 10 people at the top and throw in a few administrators. Keep the teachers and reduce class size a bit! Less students = less administrators = less associate superintendents and so on." — roni95242
On whether lowering the drinking age to 18 would stop binge drinking:
"Yeah, and legalizing drugs will result in fewer addicts. I believe only in lowering the drinking age for the military. If you can go to another country and kill someone in the name of the U.S., you should be able to have a beer legally when you get home." — Cogito
"I was raised in a state with a drinking age of 18 (until 1994) and most teens got over the 'binge drinking' routine before they finished high school. If 18 is the legal age of 'adulthood,' then all privileges of this status should be accorded. ... Binge drinking is a reflection of the sad state of the social values our children have — what we need is more parental influence to counter this problem. Unfortunately, too many indulgent parents are the source of the problem." — Election Year
"Lowering the age would just kill more people. They need to punish them a lot more and take their cars from them. Just like the law about using your cell phone while driving. I still see people out there driving and on their phones. If caught, they need to take that phone from them as well as their cars. Let them walk or take the bus. There is no reason why anyone should be on a phone driving unless it's an emergency." — marzo2008
