Lodi police kept busy over long Labor Day weekend

It was a busy holiday weekend for Lodi police.

Officers responded to a a man being stabbed seven times in the back, a head-on collision that required one of the drivers to be airlifted to the hospital, 23 iPods that were stolen in vehicle burglaries and eight other burglaries that took place in the Downtown parking garage.

Stabbing

Three brothers were arrested early Sunday morning in connection with a stabbing at Sky's Bar, 116 W. Turner Road.

Henry Ramirez, 54, and his brother, Johnny Ramirez, 43, both from Acampo, got into an altercation with Stockton resident Steve Garcia, 42, at the bar, with Johnny Ramirez stabbing Garcia in the back at 1:21 a.m. according to Lodi Police Officer Dale Eubanks.

Garcia was in good condition Monday afternoon at Lodi Memorial Hospital, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

The brothers tried to run from the area with the help of a third brother, Alberto Ramirez, 56, of Lodi, Eubanks said. However, officers captured all three.

Johnny and Henry Ramirez were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, while Johnny was also accused of parole violation and Henry with conspiracy, Eubanks said. Alberto Ramirez was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory to a crime for attempting to help his brothers get away, police said.

Head-on collision

Juan Carlos Rodriguez, 23, reportedly drove a 1990 Mercedes Benz at a high rate of speed and collided head-on with a 1999 Ford Ranger at 11:14 p.m. Saturday at Tokay and Stockton streets, Eubanks said.

Rodriguez sideswiped a parked vehicle near Main Avenue and Tokay Street and drove in the westbound lane of Tokay before the collision, Eubanks said. The collision forced the pick-up truck to go backwards into a parked vehicle, he added.

Lodi firefighters extricated Rodriguez from the car, and he was flown by air ambulance to San Joaquin General Hospital in French Camp for multiple fractures to both arms and legs, plus other trauma to his body, Eubanks said. Rodriguez was in critical condition on Monday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.

A passenger, Alejandro Estrada, 28, was taken to Lodi Memorial Hospital for treatment for a broken collarbone, broken nose and other blunt force trauma, Eubanks said.

The driver of the Ford Ranger pick-up ran from the scene, so it is unknown if he was injured, Eubanks said. He was described by witnesses as an older Hispanic male wearing a white shirt, dark pants and a cowboy hat. Witnesses told police that it appeared that there was a white Lincoln LS chasing Rodriguez just prior to the collision, Eubanks said.

If anyone has any information regarding the white Lincoln LS or the driver of the Ford Ranger pick-up, call the Lodi police at 333-6727.

Stolen iPods

Earlier Saturday, parolee Michael Lee, 20, was arrested after a parole search of his house in the 100 block of Flora Street revealed 23 stolen iPods, stolen identification and drug paraphernalia, Eubanks said. The search was made after Lee was involved in a hit-and-run crash at 1:05 p.m. at 401 W. Kettleman Lane. Lee was arrested on suspicion of hit and run, parole violation, possessing drug paraphernalia and possessing stolen property.

Parking garage burglary

At 3:05 p.m. Saturday, James Aaron, 31, was arrested on suspicion of breaking into eight vehicles in the Downtown parking garage by using a metal garbage can lid to break the windows, Eubanks said. A security guard at the garage told police that Aaron attacked him as well.

Aaron was arrested on suspicion of burglary and battery.

Man assaulted at care home

At 7:17 a.m. Saturday, a resident of the Arbor Place Residential Care on Louis Avenue reportedly struck his roommate several times with his walker because the roommate was smoking, Eubanks said. The roommate was treated at Lodi Memorial Hospital.

Correct!! How to wake them up, is the question. They only stand up when one of their own gets killed. I thought when Mr. Singer was beaten to death, it would be the final straw. I was wrong. Maybe the city council likes to read news articles like that. If they don't, then I challenge them to put action to words. Enough with excuses and PC politics. "

Lou Dobbs rocks! "

" In many states and cities, the police are checking the status of the criminal if he is a legal or illegal immigrant or US citizen born in the USA. Lodi as a city can adopt a measure to train Lodi officers to check the legal status of the criminal and hand him over to immigration authorities for deportation.

If Lodi citizens are concerned, we must make this a priority for Lodi police and city council. You all need to watch Lou Dobbs on CNN each night to get the truth. "

Seems to me like a fair fight, NOT! If he had a CCW, the case would be closed.

How can adult misfits behave like this? Return them to the care/ financial responsibility/liability of their momma! Do they have jobs? How many children, grand-children? And you wonder why we have so much crime!
She should have used a couple of condoms! Then I, WE, WOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY THEIR FARE! Condoms, Rubbers, IUDS, Sterilization: they work!!! "

" T&C a guard with a night stick might get it shoved where the sun don`t shine. Pepper spray is the way to go. Finally got my wife to carry it. Look in the paper, there are advertisments for armed guards all the time. Not sure what they are guarding, but it seems the company they work for is willing to take the responability for their employee`s to pack heat. "

The driver of the Ford Ranger pick-up ran from the scene--why?? What's the politically incorrect question here? LOL "

" That security guard should have a nightstick or at least a large can of pepper spray for his own protection. Typically, guard agencies policy is "See nothing, Do nothing" for lawsuit reasons! Idiots can target this guy and take his life just for the fun of it! I think crimes of all sorts are VERY UNDER-REPORTED at the city parking garage. But I am here to assure tc, patton1, T&C TandC and all his other blog names, that crime at the city garage has nothing to do with "GOBS"! "
