Where to eat in Lodi?
That's a question that leads to many delicious answers.
At the center of a farming and wine region, close to the Delta and San Francisco Bay, Lodi offers wonderfully fresh regional cuisine.
Lodi's population includes substantial Asian, Hispanic and Pakistani communities, so the city also has a blend of offerings.
At one time, rumor had it that Lodi had more pizza restaurants than any other California city. That may or may not be true, but pizza is an ever-popular offering in town. Another staple is Mexican food, with more than a dozen such restaurants in Lodi.
Fast food? Your best bet is Lodi Avenue or Cherokee or Kettleman lanes, where you will find the full array of chips, fries, tacos, burgers and sandwich fare.
If you like the larger chain restaurants (think varied menus served in a bright, cheery atmosphere) you'll find a cluster of them at the southwest corner of town at Kettleman Lane and Lower Sacramento Lane.
Lodi's offerings are also diverse in terms of price.
You can get a wonderful, generous platter of food for just a few dollars at a number of Lodi spots (try Cherokee Lane and Kettleman Lane for really good eats at low prices) or choose from one of the city's fine dining establishments.
Downtown Lodi reflects the richness of the Lodi dining scene, with upscale restaurants, ethnic food, a brew pub and coffee shops.
In warmer weather, several of the restaurants offer al fresco dining. On a warm summer evening, as the Delta breeze rises, Downtown is a special place to enjoy food and drink.
