Reynolds Ranch developer seeks to add hotel, senior housing
The developers behind the Reynolds Ranch project are expanding the scope of the project's commercial component with plans for a hotel, mini storage and senior housing.
San Joaquin Valley Land Co. is building a 20.5-acre Blue Shield office southwest of Harney Lane and Highway 99 to anchor its 226-acre mixed-use development from the western Highway 99 frontage road to the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks.
The new plan still calls for 1,084 housing units, but on about 19 fewer acres. And 50 of the 77.8 acres designated for housing would be devoted to seniors, with 11.3 acres spelled out for assisted senior living.
The Lodi Planning Commission will review San Joaquin Valley Land's application for a General Plan amendment at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Due to the large amount of senior housing, San Joaquin Valley Land, headed by Dale Gillespie, has eliminated a 14-acre elementary school site.

1) Buy buy buy more houses today! Haven't you heard? TODAY is the BEST time to buy?
2) Refinance that beautiful Hilborn estate and get some of that "equity" money to give yourself a gift, go buy a new car. I hear theat you can get a good deal on a new 2006, 2007 or 2008 Hummer or Mercedes - a bright shiny NEW car. Ah the fragrance of "Mercedes Leather" seats! Or you can get a HELOC from any of our small privately owned banks. Keep your money in Lodi!
3) Start writing letters to the CC to get the RDA moving along so we can keep our local developers and builders busy with hiring undocumented aliens. We need someone to buy stuff from the new WALMART SUPERCENTER.
4) Support the new Walmart Supercenter as an "anchor" for all the pawn shops, liquor stores and tattoo parlors we will need. "

Ask Rad how Sid Dunmore from Granite Bay (nice house) conducted his. Didn't Rad work for Dunmore communities? I am a "dumb broad" and I don't know this "man talk". LOL The word on the street (the GOB marketing method), is that "IF YOU BUILD IT ---THEY WILL COME". Well, tell this to the largest developers in the country who are going bankrupt. One of the largest developers in Sacramento just BK'd. Remember the emergency I-5 "boat section" repair last month? The owner has filed BK.
Where are we going to get all these seniors? REAL and QUALITY NEW houses are being given away in some Florida Senior housing communities. Why move to Lodi? "

I read how the change will have no environmental impact... yeah as 20 times the cars and trucks zoom down Armstrong.. a 35 mph zone... doing 70.
Yeap, no environmental impact at all. "

I like the senior component. However, not all us baby boomers are willing to ship our parents off. My 90 year old in laws always have a place here. Heck my father in law could mow my lawn for room and board.
Actually I am blessed with healthy, vibrant, great parents and in-laws. They are still living large and strong in their 90's. God bless them... and Mom and Dad... thanks for the great genes. "

Sure a Costco would be nice, but I'm worried that we will look like Milpitas or Elk Grove in the short years to come. All we're missing is a Best Buy and a TGIF's, rofl. "

I can't believe this town claims to be a tourist destination, but yet there was no place "nice" to stay overnight, except Wine & Roses and now Hampton Inn. "
