Locals make big splash in the pool
Several members of the Lodi City Swim Club had record-breaking performances this past weekend.
Grace Richard (11-12 girls) set team records in the 50-meter backstroke (33.93), the 100 back (1:13.63), the 200 back (2:37.65) and the 400 medley (5:35.29) at the Far Westerns in San Jose.
Natalie Bowman (11-12 girls) set a new record in the 400 freestyle (4:54.86).
Alex Daneke, an incoming freshman at UC Davis, posted new club records while competing at the Junior National Championships in Minneapolis. He had record times in the 200 backstroke (2:08.47) and the 200 free (1:55.42).
Daneke placed 21st in the 100 backstroke (58.66).
USTA
NorCal Junior Team Playoffs
A team consisting of players from Lodi and St. Mary's high schools placed third at the USTA NorCal Junior Team Playoffs last weekend in Clovis.
Represent Lodi High were Ana Rocha, Millia Hinchman, Alison Simon, Audrey Simon and Anna Adams. Alexis Ferreira and Leah Figone are from St. Mary's.
In the same tourney, former St. Anne's student Christiana Ferrari, 14, was a member of the Laguna Racket Club 18s team that won the tourney championship.
Ferrari and Tiffany Pham of Elk Grove were 3-1 in doubles play and Ferrari went 4-0 in singles competition.
