Government shouldn't 'take care' of citizens
I read the letter from Arne Aasen and I just about laughed myself to tears. Why is it that Democrats feel that all citizens need to be taken care of by the government as if we are their children?
I don't want to be told what to do or think or act. I am all grown up and can fend for my family all by myself, and have done so for many years.
If you want the government to take care of you, go to a socialist country and be happy. You cannot legislate honesty, religion, work ethics or morality. These come from a family atmosphere and should stay that way. If you are injured, sick, lame or, as some feel, lazy, socialism is your ticket.
As far as guns go, if someone is mad at you or if they want something you have, they will grab anything available at the time to use as a weapon. Guns are tools, as are hammers, steak knives, baseball bats, etc. I have owned guns all my life and have never even been tempted to use one on anyone. I sleep soundly at night knowing that if someone comes into my home to harm me or my family or steal something, I can defend myself and family from such things. Do not make guns the bad guy; bad guys use anything they can get their hands on to force their will on others.
If Democrats had their way, we would all be running around with clubs and spears just to feed ourselves, and the government would provide the weapons.

Grown ups talk about voting here in America, so if voting is offensive to you then you know what you can do.
No one cares about your personal life. This is a message board where people converse and debate... ya know, we talk. If you can't take the heat... "

Not sure of your point. You seem to hate incompetent, corrupt Republican government. You seem to hate Obama. You do not believe any government statistics. So on what facts are you basing your belief about the people who receive public assistance and the other "outrages" in your rant? "

Bry, you hit that old nail right on the head. Over the last 7 years George W. Bush (the greatest President this nation has ever known) has increased government spending on an unprecedented scale with much of the money going to reward our corporate heroes at Halliburton and the Oil Companies.
Corporate welfare has made our country what it is today.
Now Obama wants to come in here and change all that?
That's why I say loud and proud
FOUR MORE YEARS!!!

I sure hope you weren't including corporate welfare in that hit list of yours because those hardworking executives at Halliburton and Exon absolutely need every penny that they get. You can starve as many poor kids as you like but don't you dare take the government give aways from our brave corporate warriors. "
