Lockeford bar ends lap dances

It appears that Lockeford has seen its final lap dance.

The attorney for Timothy Kruppe, owner of the On the Beach nightclub on Highway 88, said that the establishment no longer offers lap dances and its female staff will no longer wear bikinis. As of today, they were still wearing bikinis.

Kruppe made the decision Monday during ongoing negotiations with San Joaquin County's Community Development Department, according to his attorney, George Mull.

As part of settlement negotiations of a lawsuit Kruppe filed against the county in February, Kruppe has offered to the eliminate bikini-clad dancers and lap dances in the nightclub's VIP lounge, Mull said Monday. Mull admitted that some of the dancers have been topless while giving lap dances to their customers. They were not in public view when topless, he added.

Upon county approval, the nightclub will operate under a new name and become a standard bar, karaoke and dancing establishment — with the customers doing the dancing to recorded and live music.

In exchange, the county would pay Kruppe's legal costs, Mull said.

Although the settlement hasn't been approved by either party, Mull said that Kruppe, acting in good faith, is voluntarily ending the bikini dancers and lap dances.

" I wish the county would put all this energy towards cleaning up all the criminal activity that happens around here rather than mess with a topless bar. Big deal! Go after the tweekers, go after the illegals, go after the 30-50 year night time bicyclists who are out "shopping" for something to steal! "

Daniel: I say getting rid of this nudie bar before the big crimes happen is a good idea. "

" gail1: Be reasonable. A business like this bar can affect more than just the people that patronize the place. If Lockeford doesn't want a nudie/sex bar in town they have every right to protest it. This kind of low class business breeds all sorts of crime. Get rid of it. "

" Well it is a about time the shenanigans ended at the bar. Kruppe is scum. During his remodeling, he asked our company to come out and give him a bid for some work to be done. He would only give us his name Tim. He would not give us his last name. I wonder why. I don't know why the county, us taxpayers, have to pay for his legal costs. He admitted having topless girls, which he had no permit for. Would that not mean he had illegal activities going on in his establishment? You think? "

T & C wrote on Aug 5, 2008 6:28 PM:

" Everybody nods your heads and say "" I'll bet the girls were more than topless behind closed doors"! That is the whole idea of clubs like this! It's always about sex! Its like bringing gamblers to a casino and telling the public, "our customers will NOT gamble, they will only look at the machines...Right"! "
