Regional Roundup
Smoke gone for now
Blue skies have been seen for a few days now, and according to Accuweather, a private forecasting firm, they are here to stay.
Ken Clark, meteorologist for Accuweather said the fires have died down enough for lingering smoke to make it's way North.
In addition, Clark said the lack of Northern winds helps keep smoky skies at bay as well.
So, unless more fires flare up, Clark said we shouldn't have any air quality issues with the exception of an occasional haze.
Campaign to benefit Lodi Boys & Girls Club
The Lodi Boys & Girls Club will be the beneficiary of a school supplies drive aimed at getting underprivileged students the gear to go to school.
Staples, DoSomething.org and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks are asking people to drop off school supplies July 6 through August 31 at their local Staples store to help students in need.
Staples shoppers can also donate $2 at any store location.
Drop-offs and donations made at the Lodi Staples at 2415 W. Kettleman Lane will go to the Lodi Boys & Girls Club.
Why I love Disneyland
Many Lodians think Disneyland is the happiest place on Earth. It's relaxing (OK, except for some long lines). The food is always great. And there's a little something for everyone.
We want to know your favorite Disneyland moments. The time you rode Space Mountain 12 times in a row. The way you were proposed to in front of the castle. How you wet yourself in the haunted house. Send your stories and photos to Lodi Living editor Lauren Nelson at laurenn@lodinews.com. You can mail your memories to Lodi News-Sentinel at 125 N. Church St., Lodi, 95240. The deadline for submissions is July 27.
