Flag City Starbucks slated for closure
The Flag City Starbucks will soon be closing its doors, part of a company-wide closure of 600 stores across the country.
No word has been given as to whether the employees at that location, near Highway 12 and Interstate 5, will be laid off or absorbed into other locations. The Starbucks Corporation recently announced that it would let go or absorb 1,200 employees.
The coffee giant posted a complete list of location closures on its Web site Thursday. The list included the Flag City store, located at 14820 Star St.
The time frame given for shutting down operations of the store is any time between now and the first quarter of business for 2009.
Other locations in the region to be closed are in Jackson, Lincoln, Modesto, three in Sacramento. None of the stores in Stockton were listed.
San Diego will lose 10 Starbucks, and Las Vegas has a total of 16 locations closing. A total of 88 stores in all of California will be shut down.

I'd leave the kids behind (or stay home with them but most of the clothes buying is spur of the moment. Ya know, we've been here a year and have yet to make it into the Mervyn's. Is it any good there? Go by all the time but we're more Target and Ross shoppers. I'd blame the economy but fifteen years after college we still live like we're on a strict college budget. "

Now... the moment the kids are asleep how ever, you should be made to watch her model her goodies. (veiwing pleasure)
Do you have to hold her purse? Cuz that would just suck butter milk. "

But, there are too many Starbucks around here, so this is inevitable. "

Funny, I thought one of the three in the Target area would have closed. I think they should replace it with a big screen and couches for us poor hubbies who have to wait with the kids while the wife tries on three armfuls of clothes (ok, a little exageration there).
Seriously though why can't these stores realize that fitting rooms need a waiting area. There was a store in Oregon my wife liked that the only dressing room for women was in the bra section and it got a little uncomfortable sitting there with the kiddos for 20 min. "

(Although I have found that Juice it up's are better but cost more.) "

Although I do frequent the local coffee shops (Cofees, Etc / House of Cofee) when I am in Lodi - and I prefer Local - Flag City Starbuck was my almost daily stop for coffee heading out to my commute because - IT WASNT VERY CROWDED THERE!
The very reason I stopped there, is obviously the very reason it is being closed!
Looks like I'll be going back to "home brewed" in the morning, as I can't afford the time to stop into a local shop and wait - and the line at the Starbucks at Kettleman/Lower Sac is just too long. Costs more in gas to wait in line that it costs for the coffee! :( "

Classic oversaturation of a brand. They should have talked to the folks at McD's on how not to steal customers from existing stores.
Besides, who wants to be another lemming drinking the "in" brand? It's been a successful marketing push to get you to buy $5.00 high calorie sugary "coffee" drinks.
Give me a local indie coffee house any day of the week. House of Coffee's can't be beat in this town. "
