It's no secret — Lodians have a lot of pride and memories about their youth in Lodi. A recent News-Sentinel column, "You know you are from Lodi if . . .," by Wade Heath, got people talking about their favorite Lodi memories, from playing kick-the-can and Chinese jump rope to eating 18 cent hamburgers at Popeye's and bratwurst at Helwig's.

Most are nostalgic about the past, wishing they could watch boat races at the Lake on Fourth of July or spend just one more summer at Sunset Theater or in Jack Chappell's swimming pool.

This is a list of memories that make Lodi memorable to the people who grew up here. (Comments from http://www. lodinews.com are included below.)

Our out of town family/guests would insist on stopping by the Cottage while in Lodi. Ahhhh...the KUCHEN! Yum! Mom would get one every weekend. "

" WOW Peirano's.. what great memories. Bev made the best killer brownies for dessert. Their meals were OUTSTANDING.

Our kids loved going there because Bev always showed up with the "suprise" brownies for dessert, whether we ordered them or not. They spoiled our kids(and us too) and we all loved it.

Thanks Bev !!! "

I think they used to have a giant swordfish on the wall; also the New Shanghai restaurant, and across from that and down a bit was Peirano's. I used to go there after Church for those monster baking powder biscuits. Great times! "

(To Gregg Lewis and family: I hope your new business flourishes in that location!) "
