Stoakes places third at state trap games
Accomplishment: Lodi High incoming senior Ben Stoakes was a member of the third-place team in the varsity division at the recent Scholastic Clay Target Program California Trap State Championship at the Kingsburg Gun Club in Kingsburg.

Stoakes' teammates on Stockton Team were Lynn Groom and Steven Bergeleen of Stockton, Gino Belleci of Brentwood and Kevin Clinkenbeard of Oakdale.
Family: Mark and Barbara Stoakes, parents; one sister.
Favorite sport: Shooting. "I've always done it and I like when me and my dad spend time together," said Stoakes, who is a member of the Stockton-Waterloo Gun and Bocce Club.
Favorite athlete: Lodi High classmate Kyle Sinclair.
"We're pretty competitive at everything we do. Soccer, dodgeball, anything," Stoakes said.
Favorite hobbies: Shooting and hanging out with friends. Stoakes says he shoots at least once a week.
Favorite subject: Child development. Stoakes said his teacher, Mrs. Boschee, is like a second mother.
Would like to meet: Jesus. "I'm a very religious guy," Stoakes said.
Crowning achievement: Getting his driver's license. "I enjoy driving a lot, it's one of my favorite things to do," said Stoakes, who drives a Jeep Cherokee.
Plans: To attend college and become an adaptive physical education teacher.
Stoakes said he spends a week at Camp Barnabus in Missouri every summer and serves as a counselor helping mentally and physically challenged kids.
"It's an amazing experience for me," said Stoakes, who leaves for the camp in two weeks.
