Dorothy Seiler

Dorothy Louise (Mettler) Seiler, 80, of Lodi, died June 23 from complications due to a stroke. She was born Dorothy Louise Mettler on Sept. 28, 1927.
Mrs. Seiler resided in Lodi her entire life. She grew up on a farm in the Alpine Victor area, where her father grew grapes. She attended Alpine School, Lodi High School and went on to UC Berkeley, where she studied architectural drawing.
She was a member of Zion Reform Church, the Lodi Garden Club, Lodi Woman's Club, Lodi Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Victor Farm Bureau. She enjoyed music, including the Sweet Adelines and the Zion Reform Church music program, choir, children's choir and playing the pipe organ. She also loved flowers; she spent many years decorating the church and competing at the Lodi Grape Festival with her flower arrangements. She also enjoyed being a mother, wife, homemaker and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Olson and Janene Culbertson; son, Larry Seiler; sister, LaVerne Burns; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Seiler.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. A celebration of her life will follow at 2 p.m. at Zion Reformed Church. Visitation will be held from noon to 6 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Ave.
