Democrats gain in District 10
The 10th Assembly District has been a Republican district for years, but the Democrats have narrowed the registration gap, which may give candidate Alyson Huber more of an upset chance against Lodi's Jack Sieglock in the November election.
Republicans lead in registration with 40.7 percent of the registered voters in parts of four counties in the 10th Assembly District, while Democrats represent 38.7 percent of registered voters. Two years ago, Republicans had a 42.5 percent to 37.7 percent edge in registration, according to californiaprogressreport.com.
"I don't know her that well; don't know her politics that well," Sieglock said of Huber on Monday. "I think there will probably be a lot of differences. I'm a conservative Republican. She got a lot of traditional Democratic money behind her. It could be your classic situation of Republican vs. Democrat."
Huber, an El Dorado Hills attorney who grew up in Lodi, was not available for comment Monday.
There is a wild card to the November election — a potentially significant 16.6 percent of the registered voters in the 10th Assembly District have "declined to state" their affiliation.
Sieglock, whose main tie is in Lodi, blew out the field in San Joaquin and Amador counties when he won a landslide victory over GOP opponents Paul Hegyi of Elk Grove and David Sander of Rancho Cordova.
Sieglock won handily even though Sacramento County has twice the registered Republican voters as San Joaquin County in the 10th Assembly District. Hegyi dominated in the small portion of El Dorado County within the Assembly district, while Sander won by a close margin in his home county — Sacramento.
"I think part of it is experience on the (San Joaquin County) Board of Supervisors and the Lodi City Council," Sieglock said Monday, analyzing why he thinks he won the primary election.
Hegyi, who finished second in the primary, complimented Sieglock for running and excellent campaign.
"Jack was able to raise a lot of money, and that really helps a lot," Hegyi said.
Sander was not available for comment Monday.

I want action not words. I am sick of all the illegal alien and Spanish pandering. I don't live in Mexico or Spain, and I don't want it to look like I do, either. Stop banks and business from using the Matricula Consular ID, which banks like BoA and Wells Fargo use so they can make those illegal home loans to illegal aliens. And YES they are still doing it. "
