Lodi yo-yo man goes for the record
Tongue out, eyes focused and hands flying, Lodian Steve Speegle flips yo-yos with speed and dexterity. And, next month, he hopes more than 2,500 people will join him.
Speegle is hoping to break the world record for the most people using yo-yos at one time. The event will be at Hutchins Street Square, July 13.
"I hopefully will be getting (participants) excited about the yo-yo and simply bring it back to California," Speegle said.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature family events such as balloon animals, yo-yo demonstrations, and gymnastics by students at Impact Sports Center in Stockton.

'Paul Buethe (used BIO from 1996 AYYA Newsletter) - I am 25 years old and have been in the State of YO for nine years now. Like many, I was inspired by the Smothers Brothers Yo-Yo Man routine. I sold yo-yos as a teen through "Pauls Yo-Yo Shed" and still perform professionally. Ive also held yo-yo contests and ran a yo-yo club in Lodi, CA. Although Ive placed well in many yo-yo contests, I am most proud of winning first place at the California State Speech Championships in 1990. It was an expository speech on yo-yos. Over the years, Ive had the pleasure of meeting many great people in the world of YO. Ive learned a lot from these people and experiences. Now, I wish to continue putting my experiences and knowledge of this sport to good use with the AYYA!'
last I heard he was yo'ing 'professionally' in japan. "
