About 20 art students from San Joaquin County, including one each from Lodi and Tokay high schools, will learn the technique of plain air painting at a special workshop today through Thursday at the county Historical Museum at Micke Grove Park.

Stockton artist Gil Dellinger of Stockton will conduct the workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Their completed works will be on display at the museum's Art and Flower Show on Aug. 2.

The workshop was made possible by an anonymous gift. All fees and painting supplies were furnished by the gift.

For more information, call Robin Wood at the museum, 331-2055.

Two arrested after fight at Acampo party

A woman was arrested on suspicion of serving alcohol to minors after a fight broke out at a residence early Saturday morning in the 19100 block of North Hidden Lakes Road, south of Woodbridge Road between Highway 99 and Lower Sacramento Road, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department.

One of the 50 to 60 people at the party sustained injuries to his left knee and left elbow during the fight, and another was treated at Lodi Memorial Hospital for a broken nose and fractured cheek bone, according to a sheriff's report.

Carrie Christine Costamagna, 20, was arrested on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of minors, while Sam Ladan Burke, also 20, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, felony battery and obstructing and delaying a peace officer, according to the sheriff's report.

Costamagna was throwing a party at her parents' home when officers were called to the house at 2 or 3 a.m. A fight had broken out where Burke reportedly assaulted people at the party, including a 20-year-old with a kitchen knife, according to the report.

When deputies arrived, Burke closed the electric fence, attempting to keep deputies from entering the property and investigating the incident, according to the report.

One of the injured men told deputies that Burke thought that he was trying to hit on Burke's girlfriend. The man stated that Burke got out of control and began fighting everybody, deputies said.

" Meanwhile a young Sergeant with our Natl guard unit recently returned from Iraq was talking to the Rotary about convoy duty and seeing palaces and poverty side by side. But I guess I missed LNS reporting on that. "

" My guess is that the parents went out of town leaving an adult (over 18, old enough to vote, etc.) never imagining for a moment she'd throw a wild party which, by the way, none of us would have done at that age, either. Yes, she should have know better and I'm sure she's going to be very sorry for a long, long time. "

" The last time I checked 20 years old was not legal drinking age. Where were the parents? Any parent that would condone underage drinking should be arrested as well. "
