The latest news on local athletes who are continuing to play at the college or pro levels.

Kaitlen Wise
Sport: Track and Field
High school: Galt High
College: Humboldt State
The freshman sprinter had a team-best time of 1:03.8 in the 400 meters this season. She also posted season-best marks of 13.75 and 28.30 in the 100 and 200, respectively, good for second-best on the Lumberjacks' squad.

Ty Kelly
Sport: Baseball
High school: St. Mary's
College: UC Davis
The sophomore third baseman was named to the Stanford Regional All-Tournament Team after the Aggies reached the Division I postseason for the first time in their history. He was 8-for-13 (.615), had two doubles, a .643 on-base percentage and a .769 slugging percentage. He finished the season batting .397 — a tie for second-best on the Aggies' all-time list — and added four home runs and 39 RBI.

Alex Ring
Sport: Baseball
High school: Tokay High
College: Delta College
The sophomore infielder signed a letter of intent to play at Azusa Pacific University next year after finishing his career as a Mustang batting .336 with two home runs and 25 RBI this season.

College: Long Beach State
The sophomore sprinter was part of a 4x100 meter relay that placed third at the NCAA Western Regionals with a time of 40.18. That mark was good enough to advance the team to the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa which runs June 11-14.

Jason Bartlett
Sport: Baseball
High school: St. Mary's
Pro: Tampa Bay Rays
The starting shortstop had an RBI in a 6-3 loss to Texas on Sunday. He had a hit, two stolen bases and scored a run in a 5-4 win over Texas on Saturday. He went 2-for-5 with two RBIs in a 12-4 victory against Texas last Friday. He added a hit in a 7-1 loss to Boston last Thursday.

Zach Phillips
Sport: Baseball
High school: Galt High
Pro: Bakersfield Blaze
The right-handed starter gave up six runs on nine hits in five innings while striking out two in an 8-6 loss to San Jose last Saturday.

Ryan Mattheus
Sport: Baseball
High school: Galt High
Pro: Tulsa Drillers
The right-handed reliever struck out two and gave up no runs on no hits in one inning against Northwest Arkansas on Sunday.

Justin Souza
Sport: Baseball
High school: Galt High
Pro: Wisconsin Timber Rattlers
The right-handed reliever picked up a victory after striking out the side in the only inning he pitched in a 6-5 win over Quad Cities last Friday. He threw one inning, allowing no runs on one hit in a 6-1 victory over Peoria last Wednesday.
