The time has come once again to put on your walking shoes and bargain-hunter's hat, and head to School Street for quality veggies, crafts, live entertainment and so much more.

Lodi's Farmers Market, which is organized by the Downtown Lodi Business Partnership and is free to the public, returns to Downtown tonight and runs every Thursday through Sept. 25, offering fresh produce, a food court and several specialty vendors.

Starting each Thursday at 5 p.m. and running until 9 p.m., the Farmers Market features 21 farm fresh produce vendors, 30 craft and specialty vendors, a kid zone, a live entertainment stage, beer and wine garden and several vendors to choose from.

Though seasoned attendees may recommend a specific route to make the most of the Farmers Market, there's no right or wrong way to navigate the popular event.

If entertainment and food is the reason you attend, there's always live entertainment across from the Lodi Beer Co., which also hosts the wine and beer garden in front of their establishment.

The food court, which is next to the wine and beer garden, will feature hot dogs, barbecue, salads, snow cones, smoothies and more.

At the opposite end of School Street is the Kids Zone, which will feature a bounce house, face painting and a multitude of kid-related activities, arts and crafts.

Produce and various other food items, such as honey and cheese, will be found on the west side of school street, while crafts, bakery goods and more will be on the east side.

Among those will be Joe Stacher's booth for 4 Seasons Sports. Stacher is one of the new vendors to join the well-liked Farmers Market.

"I'll have things like sunglasses, tubes and wakeboards," Sacher said of the merchandise that will stock his booth. Stacher has been part of the Downtown Lodi Business Partnership since opening his business in April.

Over 5,000 people are anticipated to attend the market each week, and the DLBP will also be holding theme nights where there will be free giveaways and contests.

Jaime Watts, executive director of the DLBP, is organizing the event for her third consecutive year and is excited to see the Farmers Market return.

"Lodi's favorite vendors will be returning, along with a few new additions," Watts said. "We have the freshest local produce, quality craft vendors and an awesome lineup of live entertainment every Thursday evening."

Watts promises that there is something for everyone.
