Fong's clutch hit lifts Eagles to section title
Accomplishment: Elliot Christian High's Jessica Fong hit a two-out, run-scoring triple in the seventh inning and then scored the winning run on an error as the Eagles rallied for a 5-4 victory over Valley Christian to capture their four section championship in five seasons.

Family: Stephanie Fong, mom.
Favorite sport: Softball and basketball. "It's kind of tied for me," said Fong, a junior who plays third base and guard for the Eagles. "I like the competitiveness, just being active."
Favorite athlete: Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash. "I like the fact that he's more of a team player instead of just trying to score all the points," Fong said.
Favorite subject: Art. "It's not as much thinking about facts as it is being creative," Fong said.
Favorite hobbies: Drawing. "I usually draw people, but sometimes some nature stuff and some sculpting," she said.
Would like to meet: Harper Lee, author of "To Kill A Mockingbird."
"It's one of my favorite books," Fong said. "That's the book that got me into watching old movies."
Crowning achievement: "Just playing with the team this year," she said. "I couldn't ask for anything more."
Plans: Fong hopes to attend college and continue her art, while also staying active in sports.
The Athlete of the Week is selected by the News-Sentinel sports staff. Nominations are gladly accepted. Fong will receive a T-shirt courtesy of Lodi Sporting Goods for being selected.
