David Cooper

High School: Tokay High
College: Cal
The junior first baseman was named one of 16 finalists last week for the Dick Howser Trophy, given to the top player in college baseball. He is batting .370 at the plate and has a Pac-10 leading 19 home runs and 55 RBI in 51 games.
Amanda Monday

College: Sacramento City
The sophomore right-hander struck out six while allowing one earned run on nine hits, but the Panthers (50-6) fell 3-1 to South No. 3 seed Mt. San Antonio in the semifinals of the California Community College Athletic Association State Championship tournament Sunday. She threw a shutout, allowing only four hits in seven innings while striking out three to oust Cypress, the top seed in the South, 1-0 on Sunday. She gave up one earned run and struck out five in six innings of work as the Panthers eliminated the top seed in the North, Siskiyous 11-7 on Saturday. She was subsequently named to the All-Tournament team on Sunday.

He gave up to runs and struck out one in 1/3 inning in a 4-1 loss to Pepperdine on Saturday. He struck out the only batter he faced in a 6-3 win over Pepperdine last Friday. He allowed seven earned runs in 1/3 innings of work and struck out one in a 15-4 loss to Stanford last Monday.

Kiesz, a senior, recently placed first in the 1500 at the SCIAC conference championships in Claremont. He also finished third in the 800. Kiesz ran a personal-best of 3:54.47 in the 1500 at the Occidental Invitational two weekends ago. His effort met the provisional qualifying time for the NCAA Division III championships.
