Kiyoko 'Kiyo' Nishimoto
Seamstress
Kiyoko "Kiyo" Nishimoto, 87, of Lodi, died on April 10. She was born Kiyoko Ozaki on February 11, 1921, in San Pedro.
Mrs. Nishimoto, at the age of 6 years old, went to Japan to attend elementary school. She returned to San Pedro to attend and graduate from high school. She and her family were interned in camp during World War II at Tule Lake, where she was married to Masao Nishimoto. They later moved to Sacramento for a brief time, and settled in Lodi in 1948.
She was employed as a seamstress for Catalina Swim and Sports Wear in Lodi for 25 years. She was a member of the Lodi Buddhist Church and the Fujinkai of the church, and enjoyed doing needlework.
She is survived by her sons, Daniel Nishimoto, of Stockton, and Kenneth Nishimoto, of Sacramento; brother, Tak Katayama, of Whittier; and 3 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Masao Nishimoto.
At her request, there will be no services or visitation. Committal will be private at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi.
Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
