Writer's opinion of the Galt Market
I couldn't help but write to you after reading about the Galt police investigator lauded for her work in busting a bunch of fake purses at the Galt Market.
Has she or any other officers been out there recently?
My family and I just went to the flea market and were appalled by what we saw. Not only were there hundreds of illegally licensed purses for sale as soon you get in the gates, but it goes on throughout the whole flea market. The flea market also specializes in selling gang-oriented merchandise (e.g. Norteno Brand clothing, gang-oriented merchandise, and other clothing glorifying gang life). The flea market also sells sexually oriented merchandise (e.g. crotchless teddies) on the open walkways of the market where children can clearly view the distasteful undergarments.
It is not a place for families, but a place to hang out if you have no standards. I am upset and surprised that the Galt City Council can sponsor such an atrocity. Are they that desperate for tax revenue? My family and I will never go back again.

Also, have to admit I kind of get a kick out of the place every year or so. It's a third world shopping experience. When you travel a lot, you learn to enjoy that sort of thing. "

As with any type of market, especially one with the title of 'flea,' I would expect people would be there to rip us off.
Aside from the illegal items, I don't think there is much that can be done regarding perfectly legal, albeit 'offensive,' products.
I would also submit that youngsters are treated to far more objectionable products during prime-time television hours.
You are taking the first step, however, by vowing never to return. "
