$125,000 in stolen goods
Lodi police find lighting, sound equipment and two makeshift studios
Acting on a tip, Lodi Police detectives on Friday found at least $125,000 worth of stolen lighting and sound equipment in storage units.
The equipment ranged from $6,000 lights mounted on rafters to custom-made rolling storage boxes valued at about $400 each, Detective Eric Bradley said.

Police arrested Lodi resident Martin Peel, and he was being held in the city jail on suspicion of possessing stolen property.
Bradley declined to elaborate on the tip, but it was enough for a judge to sign off on a search warrant. Detectives then went to a south Lodi storage business, where they opened three units Peel had rented.
In the back of one, Peel had apparently built a solid wood staircase leading to a second floor and a make-shift filming studio. It was complete with black curtains for the background, as well as boxes of makeup.
In another other storage unit, detectives found more lights, which are used in professional stage productions, Bradley said.
An adjacent storage unit appeared to hold an old car and assorted junk, but police soon found that they could enter the first storage unit and then duck under a door to the second unit.
At the rear, hidden behind the car, was a second studio, complete with a purple couch and a nearly life-size mannequin. Police did not believe those items were stolen, so they did not seize them. They also left various computers, VCRs, mailing boxes and make-up.
At least some of the larger, high-priced lights and sound equipment had apparently been stolen from an area lighting and audio business. Police did not release the business name due to the company's security concerns.
