Second place candidates received better coverage

Updated: Thursday, January 10, 2008 6:24 AM PST

I couldn't believe the coverage of the New Hampshire primary election in the News-Sentinel!

The second place candidates have huge pictures on Page 10 (sometimes the first page people look at it because it is at the back), then on the front page there are the dinky pictures of the first place candidates. Then if that wasn't enough, on Page 8, there is another huge picture of Obama. Very interesting. I guess there isn't much doubt who the News-Sentinel supports.

Fortunately for the country, the smart, independent women of New Hampshire voted for someone who is also smart, independent, articulate, caring and experienced. In voting for someone who has had very little experience, even though we "like" him, we risk "throwing the baby out with the bath water."

Chuckle... your definition of the word "liar" is most certainly in dispute but the dispute is between you and the dictionary.

Personally, I will go with Merriam Webster on this one.

Main Entry:
li·ar
Pronunciation:
\ˈlī(-ə)r\
Function:
noun
Etymology:
Middle English, from Old English lēogere, from lēogan to lie — more at lie
Date:
before 12th century
: a person who tells lie

" Sorry guys - you're not even close. Either our definition of "liar" is in dispute, or your absolute hatred for the president blurs whatever little intelligence you have. You claim "dozens of lies," yet you cannot conclusively prove any. But you're right, there is no sense going on trying to convince you - and it really doesn't matter. Bush is leaving soon and my only hope is that Hillary finishes her assault against the people of New York and then retires to Illinois or Arkansas (I don't care which). Good luck. "

" Girard, In Bush's letter to congress (3/21/03) he claims explicitly that Iraq was directly involved with 9/11 and then on 9/17/03 he told reporters that there was no evidence linking the two. The man is a compulsive liar. What's the point in going farther. There are direct quotes and documents nailing the man on dozens of lies. "

Leonard wrote on Jan 12, 2008 2:41 PM:

" Girard: Its not a matter of "my guy is better than your guy" it is a matter of ALL the guys being better than your guy.

Heck, Richard Nixon was a better President than Bush, he was evil but at least he was relatively competent.

Nixon, laid the foundation for bringing China in on our side in the Cold War. Bush, on the other hand, has laid the foundation for turning a nuclear armed Pakistan over to the Taliban.

George W. Bush truly is THE WORST PRESIDENT IN HISTORY. "

Leonard wrote on Jan 12, 2008 2:37 PM:

" Far from admitting to lying about a link to 9/11 and Iraq, Bush continues to lie about this subject (and a broad array of others). The man is literally compulsive in this regard. "

girard74 wrote on Jan 12, 2008 2:30 PM:

" Voter - the question remains, did GWB lie? That has been the point of my "conversation" with you and Leonard. Did Bush admit to lying about the link between 9/11 and Iraq, or do you simply assume it was a lie to bolster your hate for the man? One of the things I remember regarding Bush's call to arms a week after 9/11 was that the main target of our "war" was to be al-Qaida wherever they were hiding. Again, where are the lies?!? "

" All of this arguing between us was based upon your insistance that George W. Bush was/is a liar. Is he the greatest president in our history - obviously not. But he won't be remembered as our worst, either. I don't mind the personal attacks, the "my guy is better than your guy," idea or any of that kind of negative stuff. What I do take issue with are the flat-out lies and attempts to distort what this President has done. We ARE safer because of his policies - we've taken the battle TO the terrorists. He is incredibly focused and doesn't care which way the political winds are blowing in DC - he DOES care more about the people than his legacy, unlike his immediate predecessor. "

girard74 wrote on Jan 12, 2008 2:07 PM:

" But since you asked - "torture" - not a lie or a mistake; "war" - our going to war was not solely predicated on WMDs, however the information that the President & Congress had was that Iraq DID pose a threat - not a lie or a mistake; "voter fraud" - how many times do those ballots need to be counted?!? - no fraud, deception or mistake; "Katrina response" - yes, mistakes were made at all levels, including the President's - not a lie; "9/11--Iraq connection" anyone who did not see the connection is blind; "tax cuts for the rich" - 86% of all taxes are paid by the top 25% of taxpayers; "prescription drug bill cost estimates" - hence the word "estimates" although at this writing I need to conduct more investigation; "clean air act" - where's the lie?; "denial of habeus corpus" - we're at war - even Lincoln suspended habeus corpus - where's the lie?; "domestic spying" - everything Bush did was legal - where's the lie? "

girard74 wrote on Jan 12, 2008 1:54 PM:

" Voter - what I am saying is that all people, including presidents, make mistakes. You and your cronies have been claiming that Bush has continuously "lied" to the American people. There is a huge difference between a lie and a mistake - you apparently don't know the difference. Here I am giving you the opportunity to correct yourself. Most of the list that you provided constitutes neither mistakes nor deception. I don't have your optimism that you have any room for personal growth in this area. You don't independently think or conduct any of your "own" research before you level charges of deceit - that is a clear indication of your (lack of) moral fiber. "

voter wrote on Jan 12, 2008 1:43 PM:

That's quite an admission on your part. Good for you. I see personal growth. "

Bush did not lie. "

One of the things I remember clearly after 9/11 was Bush telling us that the war on terrorism would take a long time. To hear it told now, 9/11 never happened. Bush doesn't care about the polls - he never has. Clinton's "policies" were determined by which way the political winds were blowing. Again - where are the lies?!? "

The list of lies is so long, it would take an encyclopedia (A-Z volumes) to retell the story. I'm guessing that your news is coming from the propaganda trifecta--Fox News, talk radio, and the LNS. "

girard74 wrote on Jan 12, 2008 11:25 AM:

His title of "Worst President in History" has been bestowed not by knowledgeable, intelligent people, but by the fanatic far-left anti-Bush, anti-democracy fringe - you know, morons.

Regarding the WMDs, if in fact the president had deceived not only the American people, but Congress itself regarding this matter, where are the Articles of Impeachment? I would agree that if such proof and facts existed pointing to his guilt, there would be little opposition to move forward. Since there is no evidence, Leonard, you will need to let it go. "

Leonard wrote on Jan 12, 2008 1:48 AM:

Of equal importance is the reputation of the Office of the President was literally destroyed. Bill will not be remembered fondly by the historians. "

That war was waged upon intelligence that convinced not only Bush, but Hillary and many other Democrats as well. Frankly, I'm growing tired of pointing out the truth to those who refuse to seek it. "
