George Pettigrew
Muffler shop owner
George L. Pettigrew, 68, of Galt, died Dec. 28, 2007. He was born on April 3, 1939, in Cabool, Mo.
Mr. Pettigrew was a resident of Oxnard for 37 years, where he owned and operated a muffler shop for 35 years. He then lived in Medford, Ore. for 10 years before settling in Galt, where he worked as a custodian for Lake Canyon Elementary School. Mr. Pettigrew also served in the United States Marine Corp Reserves. He enjoyed boating, camping, trips to Reno and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Patricia Pettigrew, of Galt; sons, Terry Pettigrew, of St. Louis, Mo., and Phil Pettigrew, of Fresno; stepson, Darren Watson, of Dayton, Nev.; stepdaughter, Denise Lucero, of Herald; sister, Suzanne Goss, of Huntley, Ill.; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ben Salas Funeral Home, 149 4th St., Galt, with Ken Payne officiating. Committal will be private. There will be no visitation.
Ben Salas Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
