'Christ in Christmas' effort to kick off with luncheon
Christian Community Concerns, a Lodi-based organization intended to exert a Christian influence in the community, plans a campaign to "keep the Christ in Christmas."
A pastors luncheon to plan for the holiday campaign will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Richmaid Restaurant, 100 S. Cherokee Lane, Lodi. Letters about the campaign have been sent to pastors, elected officials and others throughout San Joaquin County to inform them about CCC's plans, said Ken Owen, founder and director of the organization.
"Christmas is a cherished time of the year when we come together and celebrated something bigger than ourselves, the birth of God's son, Jesus Christ, into the world," Owen wrote on a flier announcing next week's luncheon.
Christian Community Concerns has joined forced with Alliance Defense Fund, a Christian legal defense organization, to separate truth from myth as to what can be done legally in regard to public Christmas displays, Owen said.
The campaign will begin on Nov. 25. Call Owen for reservations to Wednesday's lunch by calling 368-0990.
