Lodi sweeps Bear Creek in league opener
Natalie Adams had seven kills, two aces and five digs to lead Lodi High's varsity volleyball team to a 25-8, 25-8, 25-10 victory over visiting Bear Creek in the San Joaquin Athletic Association opener for both teams on Tuesday at The Inferno.
Adrienne Alegre had eight assists, six aces and four digs for the Flames (5-2) and Amanda Carter had five kills, four aces, seven assists and three digs.
Volleyball
Varsity
Edison 3, Galt 1
Niki Newman had nine digs and four kills for the Warriors (10-13) in the 23-25, 25-6, 25-21, 25-16 loss to visiting Edison.
Becca McBroom had six kills and three blocks and Jaclyn Pinasco had nine digs and four kills.
Galt opens Sierra Valley Conference play when the Warriors travel to Oak Ridge on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Galt's JV team won in three sets against Edison and Galt's freshman squad won in straight sets.
Stockton Christian 3, Elliot 1
Amanda Stevens had 12 kills and three blocks for the Eagles (1-3 Harvest Christian League) in the 25-22, 25-21, 18-25, 26-24 loss at Stockton Christian.
Heidi Hathorn had 12 assists and Chelsea Cornwell had five assists and six kills.
Sheldon Invitational
Tokay went 4-2 and took second in the Silver Division last weekend, losing to Modesto in the title game 25-13, 22-25, 15-12.
Heather Buzo had 31 kills, 34 assists and 22 digs for the Tigers and Nicole Buzo had 21 kills, 32 assists and 23 aces. Niki DeMartinis had 18 kills, six blocks and six aces, Kailey Toscano had 37 digs and 10 aces, Jill Rohde had 25 kills and Kelly Ring had 10 aces.

Rebecca Turner had seven assists, two digs and seven aces to lead the host Flames (6-1, 1-0 SJAA) in the 25-9, 25-10 victory. Jill Burkhard had one kill and four aces, Paige Budiselich had one kill, two digs and three aces and Shantel Dickerson had one kill, one dig and three aces.

The Flames (7-0, 1-0 SJAA) won 25-4, 25-9. Halle Ortiz had eight aces and one dig, Melanie Greenwood had seven aces, one kill, one dig and three assists, Nikki Luiz had two aces and two digs and Amanda Mercado had two aces, two kills and five assists.

Jordan Cunningham had three goals to lead the Tigers (3-0, 2-0 Tri-City Athletic League). Katelyn Mangrich, Corinne Casey and Stephanie Kuwahara each scored twice. Megan Fells, Wendy Fujitani, Anne Heberle and Amanda Goforth had a goal apiece.
Megan Slater and Corinne Alexander each had four saves.
Tokay will play at St. Mary's on Thursday in league action.

Mimi Morisaki had two goals and four steals and goalkeeper ChaCha Morisaki had three saves to lead the host Tigers.

Garrett Demartinis and Derek Leale had two goals each to lead the host Tigers. Beau Lucas had seven saves.

The Flames (13-1) finished the first half of SJAA play 5-0 with a win at Lincoln.
In singles play, Ana Rocha beat Naomi Villapando 6-4, 6-3, Millia Hinchman defeated Bianca Sievers 6-3, 6-3 and Alison Simon beat Krista Ray 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles action, Lincoln's Alex Matthews and Michelle Koeplinger beat Courtney Bingham and Noelle Anderson 6-3, 6-7, 4-6 and Lodi's Jennifer Foster and Anna Adams beat Ashley Imeson and Alyssa Louie 6-4, 7-6.
Galt 9, Cordova 0
No. 1 singles player Stacey Wilson defeated Joanna Chico 6-2, 6-1 to lead the visiting Warriors (5-1, 4-0 Sierra Valley Conference). Morgan Greenhaw topped Mai Lee 6-4, 6-2, Kaitlin Seifert bested Maricella Medina 6-1, 6-1, Christina Phillips beat Brenda Yang 6-1, 6-2, Jana Hackett defeated Anahit Khachatoorian 6-0, 6-3 and Meghan Lucero downed Courtney Wagner 6-0, 6-2.
In doubles play, Janie McMillan and Alexis Silva beat Tatevik Barakazyan and Nora Ayrapetyan 7-5, 6-0, Heather Rose and Emily Schrader defeated Mary Pena and Sai Lee 6-2, 6-4 and Sarah Houghtaling and Emily Arwood defeated Sherry Lee and Michelle Lee 6-2, 1-6, 7-6.

Alyssa Musto shot a 45 and Alex Ochoa carded a 46 to lead the Tigers (6-0, 5-0 TCAL) at Lockeford Springs.
Kasey Ota shot a 49, Maggie Macfarlene fired a 59 and Katie Woznick shot a 63.
Lincoln 231, Lodi 255
The Trojans (7-0, 5-0 SJAA) handed the Flames (4-5, 4-1 SJAA) their first league loss of the season at Micke Grove's par-36 course. Kercia Brakel led Lodi with a 36, followed by Tara Miller (49), Courtney Schmidt (53), Sarah Boles (56) and Hannah Zimmerman (61).
Sisters Kim and Michelle Nelson led Lincoln with 44s.
Lodi will play on Thursday against Bear Creek at Micke Grove.
Galt 225, Christian Brothers 247
Riley Sexton and Lindsey Lundy each shot a 43 to lead the Warriors (6-2, 4-1 Sierra Valley Conference) at Bartley Cavanaugh's par-36 course.
Kristin Madsen and Brittany Hamrick each shot a 46, Amy Austin carded a 47 and Jazlyn Adams posted a 52.
College
Adams Cup
Pacific's A.J. Hohn, a Lodi High graduate, shot a two-round total 78-73—151 during the first day of the Adams Cup in Middletown, R.I.
As a team, Pacific posted scores of 304 and 302 and is in sixth place with a two-round total 606. Wichita State University leads with a 591.
Hole-in-one
Nancy Urbick recently recorded a hole-in-one at Woodbridge Country Club's Lake Course. Urbick used a pitching wedge to ace the 93-yard seventh hole. Witnesses included Randi Schimke, Susan Leveroni and Rena Schmierer.
