Bobbie McGee
Employed by St. Joseph's Medical Center
Bobbie McGee, 68, of Lodi, died Sept. 9. He was born July 31, 1939, in Arkansas.
Mr. McGee resided in the Lodi area for 64 years. He was employed as a welder for Koering Company, Col Cal Division, until the plant closed. He then worked for St. Joseph's Medical Center, where he was the department head of central service, laundry and security. He was instrumental in the beginning of Hospitals Credit Union and the purchase of real estate that lead to the expansion of the hospital. During his employment at St. Joseph's, he led the campaign for United Way and was involved in many social activities includng coaching the hospital's women's softball team. Following his employment with the hospital, he managed property for Glenborough Corp. across California and parts of Oregon and Texas. Following his retirement, he installed automatic gate operators and had other side jobs.
He was a lifetime member of the Amblers Men's Club and was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Lodi, the Elks Lodge in Stockton and the Odd Fellows Lodge in Linden. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing in Alaska, Howard Prairie Lake in Oregon and Lake Topaz. He also enjoyed music, dancing and people.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn McGee; daughters, Sherry McGee-Casey and Lori McGee-Fikes; step-sons, Michael Phillips and Richard Phillips; sisters, Beatrice Peabody, Ruby Roberts and Martha McGee; brothers, Billie McGee and Lonnie "Guy" McGee; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday in the Chapel of the Flowers at Cherokee Memorial Park, Highway 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi. A private committal will follow.
