On Russ Munson, owner of Wine and Roses, paying $8,000 to get exclusive rights to study a Downtown Lodi hotel idea:
"The only reason they want a hotel in Downtown is because the other hotels are on Cherokee Lane, near the high crime areas. I say no hotel. Just clean up the neighborhoods of illegals, gang members and drug dealers around Cherokee Lane so the whole town can benefit, not just the rich elite." — Dawes
"This would be a great addition to Downtown Lodi but it will have to address parking, especially if it's going to be built on a current parking lot." — Oscar
"I always hoped as a kid that Hotel Lodi would have been revamped to live up to it's name. Instead it's become Section 8 senior housing and a real problem for police." — won't happen until they finish cleaning it up
"I lived in Lodi for many years and moved away (to get married) seven years ago. I go back to Lodi about four times a year to visit friends and family. I choose to stay at Wine and Roses because it's a quality hotel where I feel very comfortable and safe. I want the comforts of home when I travel and W & R provides it. Good luck Russ with your Downtown venture!" — Ann
On Thursday's police logbook:
"If I was a transient, I suppose I would want to sleep in a Lexus as opposed to a dirty mattress in an alley. At least the transients have good taste." — Re: the white Lexus
On two teens jailed on $1.3 million bail after an alleged gang-related drive-by shooting:
"Is $1.3 million bail excessive? No, if it would prevent Lodi's stupid Surenos-Nortenos gang problems from getting out of control." — Weezer
"The whole area is infested with them. There are real U.S. citizens who call themselves Latinos who know who these criminals are and they aren't doing anything about it. They have to make a decision: Are you really an American or do you secretly support these Latino gangs? Call 9-1-1 and turn the bums in." — I agree
