Galt High's top graduates for 2007

Josh O'Hara


Josh O'Hara

College or job plans: I am going to be attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo this fall, majoring in the field of Electronic Engineering.

Goals for the next 10 years: For the next 10 years, I would like to have earned my BS degree in Electronic Engineering and get a job with either the Department of Defense or a computer company. After I pay back my college loans, I would like to go back and get my master's degree, and then raise a family of my own.

Clubs and activities: I have participated in CSF for two years, Key Club for two years and Warriors for Christ for one year. I am currently the sergeant at arms in Key Club. I ran on Galt High's track and field team for two years as a sprinter. I am also an Eagle Scout and have been in the scouting program since 1997. I was nominated into the National Honor Society and have applied for many scholarships. I love working with computers, doing community service and hanging out with my friends.

Most memorable experience: One of the best times I had in high school was when the senior class and a few juniors went to the Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Ore., which was an awesome, once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Jamel Seagraves

College or job plans: I'm going to Stanford University to major in marine biology and possibly engineering.

Goals for the next 10 years: I want to earn a Ph.D.. and work at a research facility for marine mammals. I also want to start a family.

Clubs and activities: Key Club, CSF, WASC, EAOP, Science Club, track and field, football, Boys and Girls Club and jazz band.

Most memorable experience: I broke my leg halfway through my first-ever season of playing football.

Kathryn Elizabeth Salfen

College or job plans: In the fall of 2007, I will be attending UC Davis, pursuing an education in the field of landscape architecture. I have chosen to study in the field of landscape architecture in order to please both my intellect as well as my love for nature. As a landscape architect, not only can I benefit the people, but I can also benefit agriculture and our natural environment. Nature provides a natural beauty for the world. Architectural landscaping is designed to bring that beauty to public areas for people to enjoy.

Goals for the next 10 years: During the next 10 years, I will have fulfilled my bachelor's degree in landscape architecture and possibly a master's degree. I will be working toward my own landscape architecture business along with having a wonderful family, loving husband and a big house, along with my personally designed soccer stadium and golf course in the backyard.

Clubs and activities: Member of Galt FFA — 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grade and FFA Newsletter Committee Chairman in 11th and 12th grade; member of California Scholarship Federation — 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grade; member of Lettermen's Honor Society — 9th, 10th, 11th (vice president), 12th grade; member of JV girls soccer team — 9th (captain), 10th (captain); member of varsity girls soccer team — 11th grade, 12th grade (captain); member of varsity girls golf team — 9th, 10th, 11th (captain), 12th (captain); 2007 graduation committee; Galt Historical Society junior member; Galt Boys and Girls Club; Girls golf and soccer.

Most memorable experience: The most memorable experience I have had while attending Galt High School has been the opportunity of participating in various programs that have allowed me to mature as an individual while working with friends and having fun.

Michelle Oyewole


Michelle Oyewole

College or job plans: In the fall, I am going to be attending UCLA and possibly majoring in communications, with a minor in Spanish and either a major or minor in theater.

Goals for the next 10 years: In the next 10 years, I hope to have replaced Raven and have my own TV show called, "That's so Michelle." However, if that doesn't work, I hope to have a successful career in the field of public relations using my knowledge of the Spanish language.

Clubs and activities: I've been involved in a variety of clubs and activities throughout high school. The ones that I have made the most impact on have been Key Club, in which I was president; German Club; African American Culture Club; and Student Council, in which I was the school site council representative. I am also in the choir at my church and I have helped at the nursery there for many years. I have been involved in the soccer, cross country and track teams at my school.

Most memorable experience: One of my most memorable experiences during high school has been going to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Ore. I was able to spend time with my friends and see some excellent performances.

College or job plans: I plan on attending the University of California, Davis and receiving a degree in economics.

Goals for the next 10 years: I would like to graduate with honors from UC Davis, get married and have a big family.

Clubs and activities: I am actively involved as a 100 percent life member with the California Scholarship Federation. I am also secretary of Key Club and Warriors for Christ. I have played soccer for four years and have received the most outstanding offensive player award this year. I have also run cross country for four years, was captain for two years and received the most outstanding female senior runner award this year.

Most memorable experiences: My most memorable experiences were when I scored the winning touchdown for the senior powderpuff team in overtime, and also becoming a member of the royal court for homecoming.

College or job plans: Attend Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo majoring in business administration.

Goals for the next 10 years: Graduate form Cal Poly in four years and obtain a job in the business world. Then obtain my MBA from Stanford University or another well-known university with an excellent business program. I hope to have a steady job that will allow me to travel and see the world.

Clubs and activities: California Scholarship Federation: 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th; Warriors for Christ: 11th, 12th, (treasurer 12th); Key Club: 10th, 11th, and 12th (treasurer 12th); Future Business Leaders of America: 11th and 12th; high school soccer team: 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th; high school track: 10th and 11th.

Most memorable experience: Going to Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival with my AP English class and spending time with Mr. Arieas and Mrs. Raybe.

Brent Marriott

College or job plans: University of California, Davis majoring in biochemistry. I will be continuing my job as a landscaper and handyman.

Goals for the next 10 years: Attain my Ph.D.; launch a rocket to space; become a professor or research scientist; write a book.

Clubs and activities:

Marching band drum major; concert band; track and field; cross country; Lettermen's Honor Society; German Club; CSF; Science Club.

Most memorable experiences: All of the Chuck Norris jokes; getting married to Audrey DeSoto in Disneyland; hanging with my best friends; bonfires.

College or job plans: I plan on attending UC Davis for the next four years, then hopefully going to medical school.

Goals for the next 10 years: I plan on completing UC Davis and entering a residency. Hopefully, I can enter a medical related field, such as a doctor of medicine.

Clubs and activities: I have done Key Club, which is a community servicebased club. Also, I have played on the varsity golf team for three years.

Most memorable experience: My most memorable experience would have to be being surprised with a scholarship I never even applied to.

College or job plans: I will attend UC Davis this fall and I will doublemajor in managerial economics and in Chicano studies.

Goals for the next 10 years: Receive my MBA from UC Davis. Start working at a very well-paying company and start making bank! Maybe even get married and start my family.

Clubs and activities: City of Galt Youth Committee; Club Azteca; JV/varsity swimming for all four years.

Most memorable experiences: My most memorable experiences during high school would have to be bus rides home from swim meets. Going crazy in the back of the bus with my "sexy mamaz" was the best!
