Father, son arrested
Lodi police: Illegal weapons seized at business
A Lodi store owner and his father were arrested Wednesday after detectives seized more than two dozen weapons from the shop, including throwing knives and collapsible batons.
The store, Wicked Wayz at 920 S. Cherokee Lane, was closed for the day after police arrested the manager, Sultan Ali Abdallah, 42, and booked him into jail on $60,000 bail and multiple weapons charges and conspiracy.
Detectives later arrested his son, Mohamed Abdallah, 22, in Alameda, where he runs another store. Abdallah was also booked into jail on $60,000 bail.
The stores sell smoking, tattoo and body piercing supplies, as well as items ranging from T-shirts to salvia, a psychoactive plant.
The store, listed in city records as selling "gifts and novelties," opened in November.
Detectives, wearing police vests, happened to drive by the store Tuesday, entered and saw various weapons for sale, said Sgt. Steven Price.

They went to do research on the weapons, determined they were illegal and returned Wednesday only to find the weapons had disappeared, Price said.
Sultan Abdallah allegedly told a plain-clothes officer that he had sold all of the weapons but after getting a search warrant, police found them in the man's vehicle parked at the store, Price said.
The weapons included:
• A heavy mace with six spikes and a hatchet blade on the end. An orange tag listed the price at $59.99.
• Ten canes, complete with rubber feet and handles, which open to reveal long blades. They retailed for $30 to $35.
• Seven collapsible batons and three sets of nunchucks, which Price said may only legally be possessed by trained self-defense teachers or peace officers.
• A long dirk with a removable object similar to a throwing star.
• Several pink boxes of six-inch throwing knives, each containing three knives and selling for $12.99.
All items are listed as illegal under California's penal code.
The elder Abdallah had a properly licensed .40-caliber Ruger handgun when police arrested him, but the gun meant he can also face a charge of being armed in the commission of a felony, Price said.
Officers in Alameda detained the younger Abdallah, who also had a registered gun, and Lodi detectives arrested him. Both men were arrested because the younger man owned the stores and is responsible for items sold out of it, and his father knew about the items and had them in his vehicle, Detective Eric Bradley said.
