The man reportedly stabbed at Quik Stop Market in Galt has been identified as Jesse Cortez, 30, of Galt, police said.
Cortez was attacked by four to six males while walking into the store at 5:25 p.m. Friday, and was stabbed in the chest, according to a press release by Galt police Detective Bruce Ramos. No other information was available Sunday.
Cortez was taken to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento on Friday, but he was not listed in hospital records on Sunday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Ramos said that Cortez's injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
The alleged assailants were seen leaving in a midto late-1980s Oldsmobile sedan. Anyone with information about the incident may call the Galt Police Department at 366-7000.
Major Galt accident shuts down Highway 99
A mini-van involved in a solo rollover accident in Galt late Sunday afternoon caused two children to be ejected from the vehicle and a third person was pinned, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The ages of the ejected children were 6 and 13. A total of 8 persons were in the van, all of whom were taken to UC Davis Hospital with a variety of minor to moderate injuries.
Both northbound lanes of Highway 99 were blocked just south of the Central Galt exit after the 5:39 p.m. crash. The vehicle rolled over two or three times, according to the CHP.
The driver of the mini-van said that he fell asleep, according to a CHP spokesman, but the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
No other information was available Sunday.
