In 1990, he won the Distinguished Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence and Professional Contribution. He was selected in 1996 by the American Artist magazine as one of the 12 artists to paint on the Forbes/Trinechera Ranch near Durgano, Colo. It was featured in the January 1997 issue of the magazine, and the works from the event were shown at the Forbes Magazine building gallery in New York. In 1997, he was selected as one of the 22 artists to be invited as guests at the Forbes Chateau in Balleroy, France. Dellinger was one of 15 artists in chosen by the Grand Canyon Trust in 1999 to raft the Colorado River at the Grand Canyon and paint for 10 days.
