Ethel Koyama
Member of Lodi Buddhist Church
Ethel Hatsuko Koyama, 96, of Acampo, died Jan. 24 in her home. She was born Dec. 5, 1910, in Punnene, Maui.

Mrs. Koyama graduated from Maui High School in 1929, and then moved to Acampo, where she married Roy Koyama. She was a member of the Lodi Buddhist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the Lodi Buddhist Women's Association. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Stockton Bonsai Club, where she won awards for her miniature trees.
She is survived by her son, Asa Koyama; daughters, Bernice Lawry, Merry Sasaki, June Shimozaki, Amy Moore and Jeanne Louie; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; son, Frank Koyama; and great-grandson, Sean Koyama.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Lodi Buddhist Church. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lodi Buddhist Church, 23 N. Stockton St., Lodi, CA 95240; or to the Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Ave., Stockton, CA 95204.
A family memorial registry book may be signed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, Lodi.
Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
