Six set to be honored at chamber dinner Tuesday
The community is invited to help the Lodi Chamber of Commerce honor six residents and welcome Eric Daegling as the chamber's new board chairman Tuesday night.
Honorees are:
• Dennis Lewis, Lodi Adopt-A-Child, Citizen of the Year.
• Stanton Lange, Stanton Lange Vineyards, Agribusiness Person of the Year.
• Terry Knutson, Cottage Bakery, Industrialist of the Year.
• Beverly Mannon-McFarland and Heather Doneen, Fairmont Rehabilitation Hospital, Chamber Volunteers of the Year.
• Troy Meath, Geweke Dodge, Street Faire Volunteer of the Year.
Daegling, from Bank of Stockton, will replace Greg Parrett of Valley Management Group as chamber board chairman.
Lewis, a retired Lodi police officer, began Adopt-A-Child in 1989, when he was president of the Lodi Police Officers Association. He has since led the effort to provide Christmas gifts and school clothes for needy children on Lodi's Eastside, and sponsored two Boy Scout troops for needy children. The organization also sponsors two Girl Scout troops.
Lange, a grape grower, is the fourth generation of his family to farm in the Lodi area. His younger brothers, Brad and Randy Lange, are prominent winegrape growers in Acampo.
Stanton Lange manages about 800 acres, plus another 200 acres in which he plays a significant role. He chairs the Lodi-Woodbridge Winegrape Commission's Research Committee, on which he has served for nearly 16 years.
Knutson, the chamber's Industrialist of the Year, has lived in Lodi his entire adult life. His father, Ray, bought Cottage Bakery with Wayne Larson in 1954 and it stayed in the Knutson family ever since. He sold the business last year to Ralcorp Holdings, although he retains the title as company president.
Cottage Bakery produces artisan breads, cakes, cookies and frozen dough. It also makes ciabatta bread for half of the nation's 2,200-plus Jack in the Box locations.
Meath, Street Faire volunteer of the year, has been an active chamber member for 12 years and has helped on the Street Faire since 1994.
