Mahoney leads Lodi in Shootout
Austyn Mahoney scored a total of 14 goals to lead the Lodi High girls water polo team in the five-game Sierra Shootout in Rocklin over the weekend.
The Lady Flames (4-3) took 12th out of 30 teams.
"That's the best finish they've had in (this tournament) the last five or six years," Lodi High coach Kraig Jorgensen said.
In the opening game, Lodi beat Modesto 11-1. Mahoney scored four goals, Stacy Fujitani scored three, and Anne Heberle, Corinne Casey, Anna Acosta and Stephanie Kuwahara each had one. Corrine Alexander had 12 saves in goal.
In the second contest, Lodi fell 12-3 to Buchanon. Heberle scored two goals and Casey had one. Alexander had four saves.
Lodi then beat Vintage 9-7. Mahoney scored four times, Heberle and Casey both found the net twice and Fujitani scored once. Alexander had five saves.
The Flames were edged out by Clovis 6-5. Mahoney had four goals and Casey had one. Alexander had four saves.
In the final contest, Lodi lost 8-5 to Carondolet. Mahoney and Casey had two goals apiece and Heberle had one. Alexander grabbed five saves.
Lodi will take on cross-town rival Tokay in a scrimmage at the Tokay pool on Wednesday.
College Soccer
Former Lodi High and Delta College standout Nelson Rodriguez led Cal State Eastbay (2-3-0) to a 5-0 victory over Pacific Union College on Sunday
The junior midfielder had a goal and an assist.
