Lodi Fire Capt. Pete Iturraran uses a hand tool to smother the flames of a mattress from inside the Lodi Hotel Tuesday evening. A small blaze started inside a room. The fire triggered the sprinklers which in turn flooded two downtown businesses' basements on Pine Street — Hedy Holmes Staffing Services and Judy's Alteration Shop. A firefighter threw the mattress off the roof of the businesses and into a courtyard. No one was injured in the incident. (Jennifer M. Howell/News-Sentinel)
