An officer spotted the car, but he stopped the pursuit after the driver went west on Kettleman Lane and out of town, Barry said.

Today's City Council meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 380 Civic Drive.

James Aaron Ash, 22, was arrested shortly after robbing a person of several items shortly after 11:30 p.m. Thursday near Lilac and Academy streets, the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department said.

Ash was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possessing stolen property, a sheriff's report said. He was not armed, the report said.

Teen arrested on suspicion of meth

A 15-year-old boy turned himself in to authorities after using methamphetamine for three straight days, the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department said.

The youth, found on North Manor Drive in Thornton, was treated at San Joaquin County General Hospital in French Camp before being booked at juvenile hall, the sheriff's report said.

Three new West Nile cases reported

Three new human cases of West Nile virus were reported last week, increasing the total in San Joaquin County to 32, the county Office of Emergency Services said.

One victim is a man between the ages of 18 and 65 who lives in southern San Joaquin County.

The other two victims, both from the central part of the county, are a girl under 18 and a man over the age of 65, the OES Web site said.

One of the 32 human cases resulted in the death of Acampo resident James "Jim" Rodgers, 86, who died Aug. 10.
