Fishing Report
New Melones
Trollers continue to pick up limits of trout. Bank anglers should target Glory Hole Point, or under the 49 Stevenot Bridge, using rainbow or chartreuse Select Power Bait, or a nightcrawler/marshmallow combination.
Trollers have had best luck in the main lake and upriver. Most fish are being caught in 30 to 40 feet of water, with Uncle Larry's Power Spinners along with Power Bait, or a Wedding Ring/crawler combination.
Big bass are continuing to show up, especially in the shallows. Six-inch crawdad-colored worms, Yamamoto Senkos and spinnerbaits are producing the most action.
Try Tuttletwon, or under the 49 Stevenot Bridge for catfish. Use chicken livers or crawlers, a sliding sinker, leave your bail open, and be sure your hooks are sharp.
Lake Camanche
Use floating Rapalas early and late in the day for trout. Trout action at both the lake and the South pond remains solid with limits very common. Kastmaster and Magic Bullet lures in silver or neon blue are productive if you let them sink down to 20 feet or so. Powerbait and nightcrawlers are the best baits for dunking.
Largemouth bass are all along the grassy shoreline early in the day before moving out to 15 feet of water during mid-day hours.
Use nightcrawlers and mackerel for catfish in 5 to 12 feet of water. Try the Camanche Arm or Causeway Cove.
Lake Amador
The road is flooded with two feet of water, meaning no fish were planted this week. If you can get through, however, not much is biting.
Delta
Try the Isleton Bridge, Decker Island and Sandy Beach for sturgeon from the Rio Vista Bridge to light 36-A.
This is the best time to fish for striped bass and sturgeron. With the water clearing up, sturgeon bites are hot in most of the Delta channels including Cache Slough, Sacramento River, Courtland, Mokelumne River, San Joaquin River, Rio Vista Bridge, Decker Island, and Sherman Island.
Use bait or troll for striped bass. Try sardines, anchovies, pile worms, ghost shrimp, grass shrimp, blood worms, and even with chicken liver.
