Bartlett to the bigs
Former St. Mary's High baseball standout and Lodi resident Jason Bartlett dreamed his whole life of getting the call to the big leagues.
And when it came on July 26, the shortstop in the Minnesota Twins' organization couldn't get back to sleep.
The 6-foot-0, 180-pound right-hander joined up with the Twins the following day and on Aug. 3 made his home debut against the Anaheim Angels.
Two days later he got his first start and went 0-for-4 against the Angels. He was optioned back to Triple-A Rochester on Aug. 6.
After playing two years at Class A and one more at Class AA, Bartlett became a hot prospect for the Twins. He was going to be called up earlier in the year, but he was hit by a pitch and broke his wrist.
Bartlett played two years at Delta before becoming a two-time all-league selection at Oklahoma.
