Parks/Rec Commission meeting canceled
The regularly scheduled Parks and Recreation Commission meeting for tonight has been canceled.
The meeting has been rescheduled for Sept. 14 at Carnegie Forum, 305 W. Pine St.
Minor-injury collision is main holiday accident
A three-vehicle accident on Highway 88 near Liberty Road was the biggest traffic accident of the holiday weekend in the area. The accident occurred at 8:45 p.m. Victims suffered minor injuries and were taken to area hospitals. Two helicopters were called to the scene. One driver was arrested for DUI.
Lodi's roads were quiet over the weekend. Lodi police conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Friday night on Hutchins Street south of Tokay Street. A total of 769 vehicles were screened, and four drivers were arrested for DUI, according to a report from the Lodi Police Department. The checkpoint was part of a two-week campaign called "You drink, you drive, you lose," in an effort to reduce the number of drunken drivers.
Man dies in tractor accident
Gonzalo Flores-Hernandez, 18, of Lockeford, died after a tractor accident early Monday morning, according to a San Joaquin County Sheriff's report.
He was driving a tractor at a vineyard on Liberty Road near Dry Creek Road, and witnesses say that the tractor appeared to drift close to the grapevines; the driver may have overcorrected, causing the tractor to rollover.
Clements Fire Department and the Sheriff's Department responded.
Flores-Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff's report. An investigation of the accident is ongoing.
