Updated: Saturday, August 7, 2004 7:53 AM PDT

Inductees in the Lodi Community Hall of Fame for 2004 include leaders from the areas of government, education, business, agriculture and the arts. The program, sponsored by the Lodi Boys and Girls Club, recognizes outstanding individuals from a variety of disciplines. Members are to be honored at a dinner Sept. 25 at the club in Lodi.

Honorees this year are:

• John Borelli, a longtime downtown business owner and community leader. Borelli is a former city Planning Commissioner who has also served on the board of directors of the Lodi Boys and Girls Club. He is a former president of the Lodi Chamber of Commerce and of the Downtown Merchants Association, now known as the Lodi Downtown Business Partnership.

• Mark Chandler, executive director of the Lodi-Woodbridge Winegrape Commission. Chandler has been instrumental in developing Lodi's image as a winegrape center. He is a nationally recognized wine educator and played a key role in establishing the Wine Visitors Center and the Lodi Conference and Visitors Center.

• Ted Heinrich, retired Lodi High School drafting instructor. Heinrich inspired many students to pursue careers in drafting and architecture. He was honored with the Western Fair Blue Ribbon for his contributions to the Lodi Grape Festival.

• Charlene Lange, former director of Hutchins Street Square. She was instrumental in the creation of the arts and conference center. As director, Lange is credited with operating the center with a strong and unwavering vision.

• Joe Serna Jr., the late mayor of Sacramento. Serna, a graduate of Lodi High, was a professor of political science at CSU Sacramento and a tireless advocate for the disadvantaged.
