Lodi kickers drop 1st tilt

Lodi High's varsity boys' soccer team (3-1) suffered its first league loss of the season Friday, bowing to St. Mary's High of Stockton, 1-0.

Coaches praised the play of sweeper Bryan Curtin, Dustin Lewis, Omar Flores and Nick Gravish on defense, and Trevor Phillips at midfield.

Tokay soccer ties Stagg

Tokay High's varsity boys' soccer team tied Stagg High on Friday, 0-0.

Coach Ruben Gomez praised the play of goalie Brian Campbell, who had six saves, and Iyad Khourdaji, Blaine Fawcett, Brandon Masai and Matt Burgess on defense.

Lodi water polo notches two wins

Lodi High's varsity boys' water polo team notched two wins Friday in the Healy Tournament.

The Flames return to Solano Junior College today for a 7 a.m. against Granite Bay High.

Darrel Schulz and Kyle Jorgensen both scored three goals in a 13-3 win over Laguna Creek High, Dan Werner and John Coughran both scored two, and Scott Lauchland, Seamus Lynch and Chris Norton each added one. Goalie Steve Swofford had four saves.

Jorgensen and Werner both scored six goals in a 16-4 win over Liberty High of Brentwood, and Schulz added the other four. Swofford had 10 saves.

Galt golf falls

Galt High's girls' golf team fell to Ponderosa High on Friday, 162-182.

Jennifer Van Dyke led the War

iors with a 50 on the par-37 front nine at Cameron Park, and Janis Valenzuela and Shauna Grisler both carded 66.

Tokay freshman-sophomore soccer hammers Stagg

Tokay High's freshman-sophomore boys' soccer team hammered Stagg High on Friday, 9-1.

Joab Estrada scored three goals, Aaron Abood tallied two, and Mike Augusto, Alonzo Hernandez, Ricardo Lemus and Pierre Ruano each added one. Nick Errecalde and Hernandez both had two assists, and Augusto, Estrada and Charlie Van Sicklin each had one.

Goalies Jimmy Griffits and Javier Serrano had five and two saves, respectively.

Coaches praised the play of Nick Lucas and Blake Lyon.

Junior tennis tourney slated

Future Stars 2000's will host a junior tennis tournament in Lodi on Sept. 30.

Singles matches for boys and girls in 8 and under, 12 and under, 15 and under and 18 and under will be played at Kofu Park.

Deadline to enter is 5 p.m. Sept. 27. For more information, call 478-5686.

Lodi High's freshman-sophomore boys' soccer team tied St. Mary's High on Friday, 2-2.

Jeff Pepper scored one goal and assisted on Alfredo Renteria's goal.

Coach Steve Kirkwold praised the play of Marcus Sousa, Jon Siegfried and Armando Casillas on defense.

Tokay sophomores bury Tracy

Tokay High's sophomore football team buried Tracy High on Friday, 49-7.

Kenny Trevillion scored four touchdowns, including one through the air, and Drew Weaver scored two.

Trevillion scored on runs of 13, 13 and 4 yards, and off a 35-yard pass from Spencer Tracy. He finished with 75 yards rushing on seven carries.

Weaver, who rushed for 172 yards on nine carries, scored on runs of 5 and 57 yards.

Rudy Hernandez scored the other touchdown off a 23-yard run.
