With his team struggling to put visiting Lincoln High away on Thursday night, Tokay wrestler Andrew Stipe took matters into his own hands.
With Tokay holding a 31-30 lead and only two matches remaining, Stipe, wrestling in the 135-pound weight division, recorded an early second-period pin against Lincoln's Gabriel Perez to secure the victory for the Tigers.
Tokay's Jimmy Griffitts (140) followed with a 4-0 decision over Chris Galbadores as the Tigers won 41-30 to improve to 4-0 in San Joaquin Athletic Association matches.
Tokay's Dan Tachella (215) recorded the quickest victory for Tokay, pinning Barron Davis 47 seconds into the second period.
Also recording pins for the Tigers were Jason Kimmel (160), who took down Robert Davis in the third period, and Ryan Lorton (heavyweight), who handled Will Thomas, also in the final period.
Other Tokay winners included Scott Gaines (171), Matt Peluso (189), Carlos Lizaraga (112) and Nick Errecalde (119).
Tokay's junior varsity squad defeated Lincoln 60-18.
Lodi 58, Bear Creek 18
Lodi heavyweight Sean McDonald had the quickest pin of the night, finishing off Dwayne Lilly only 54 seconds into their match as the Flames improved to 3-0 in the SJAA.
In other first-period pins for the Flames, Brett Pixley (189) took down Rigo Pena, Albert Marroquin (152) pummeled Kenneth McAffee, Justin Valdez (145) defeated Kenneth Hooks, Matt Azevedo (130) leveled Brian Zimmerman, Sergio Sixto (125) beat Shawn Thorton, and Steve Folino (112) handled Stacy Lee.
Earning a second-period pin for the Flames was Amin Mozab (140), who defeated Kevin Henry.
Eric Olson (171) recorded the Flames' only win by decision, beating P.J. Morgan 10-1.
Lodi's junior varsity squad defeated the Bruins 60-18.
