I wonder how many citizens in Lodi actually know that Alan Nakanishi is the mayor of Lodi.

Didn't we elect him to the school board, or was it the assembly, or maybe the water district months ago?

My memory isn't perfect, but I could have sworn I saw a Nakanishi for Assembly on an empty lot or local billboard just last year.

If Mr. Nakanishi were elected to a two-year term on the Assembly, we could assume that he would only be there for one before casting his hat into the wind for whatever is available. After all, he already has the signs and the money available.

With due respect to the voters in Lodi, it would seem appropriate and honorable that he vacate his seat on our council immediately so that our city can search for a council member who really is interested in serving Lodi for a full term.

If he acts quickly, we'll save a couple of dollars on that big reception for which he's concerned about spending money.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
