SOFTBALL

Varsity

Lincoln 4, Tokay 3

Tokay High's varsity softball team suffered its first setback in more than a year in San Joaquin Athletic Association action Tuesday.

The Tigers, who went a perfect 14-0 en route to the league title a season ago, gave up four unearned runs.

The Trojans rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning with three runs for the comeback victory.

Tokay coach Rick Vollstedt, who said the team has been complacent all season, pointed to the loss as a wake-up call.

Misty Brown, Grace Asman and Kortney Dawley each had two hits for Tokay (8-6, 3-1 SJAA).

Elliot 15, Tioga 0

Kaila Shull had a homer and a triple at the plate and she also struck out all 15 batters she faced on the mound as the game was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Katie Davis had a homer and double, Ellen Clark had three singles and Sheehan Tejamo had two hits.

Jessica Howen, Stephanie Cline, Breanna Mindt and Kelly Isaac all singled for Elliot (4-0, 3-0 MVL).

Kris Kemether had two hits and Amanda Gresham, Cassie Saorrono, Gina Edgerly, Heather Bainard and Kris Kemether each had one for the Tigers (2-1 SJAA).

Lodi 8, Bear Creek 5

Stephanie Byrd and Melissa Engelhardt each collected two singles. Samantha Baltz tripled.


BASEBALL

Junior Varsity

Tokay 10, Edison 0

Ben Ellis recorded six strikeouts in five innings for the win. Matt Woltkamp collected the save with two strikeouts.

Kyle Foreman doubled and singled, Marcus Carloni doubled twice and Richard Regelia singled twice for Lodi (9-0, 2-0 SJAA).

Alan Cerecero tripled and Ellis and Scott Gaines each singled.


GOLF

Varsity

Lodi 196, Edison 261

Adam Beckman shot a 3-under-par 34 at Woodbridge's par-37 Lake Course.

A.J. Hohn netted a 39, Jake Handel fired a 40 and Tim Willett finished with a 41 for Lodi (4-1 SJAA). Casey Porter compiled a 42 and Ross Vilinskas shot a 43.

Tokay 217, Franklin 243

Charlie VanSicklen fired a 40 and Jersyn Sharp netted a 42 to lead Tokay (6-1, 4-1 SJAA) at Van Buskirk's par-36 course.

Josh Perrault carded a 44, Spencer Tracy compiled a 45 and Kevin Musto shot a 46.


SOCCER

Girls

Varsity

Lodi 8, Bear Creek 0

Stephanie Castaneto and Hallsie Pacheco each recorded a hat trick. Genny Knowles and Allison DeSnayer each scored once for Lodi (8-2-2, 4-0 SJAA).

Sarah Devencenzi and Pacheco had two assists apiece and Castenato and Hillary Goldberg each had one. Goalkeeper Megan Robinson had four saves.

Junior Varsity

Lodi 4, Bear Creek 0

Dana Driggs scored twice and Rhinanon Nelson and Sandra Navarra added a goal apiece.

Natalie Haystee, Tonya Brown and Alyssa Schroeder all had assists.

Allie Jacinto, Chelsea Thomas and Brittany Meyer each had outstanding games for Lodi (3-1 SJAA).
