Margaret Talbot's ridiculous letter accusing Bob Johnson of being one of "good old boys" is pure poppycock. Her candidate Dixon Flynn is the consummate insider.

Flynn brought Michael Donovan to Lodi. Donovan went on to charge Lodi millions of dollars in legal fees, talked us into an expensive and questionable legal arrangement with Lehman Brothers and left us with higher water and sewer fees and no contamination cleanup.

Flynn was touted as a financial genius -- a magician with numbers! Boy, he sure turned out to be a real Houdini. We now spend more money than we receive and our budget is out of balance by more than a million dollars.

Despite our lack of cash, Flynn gave many employees a hefty 5 percent pay raise just before he left office. When was the last time you gave employees a raise when the company was losing money?

Lodi can't afford to have Dixon Flynn on the City Council.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
