I have to wonder what it is our politicians are smoking when they advocate going to Iraq to make a regime change.
Who cares what kind of government rules Iraq?
Does our government really believe Iraqis are going to turn to democracy with all of its freedoms and responsibilities?
I don't think so.
In Iraq there are three major religious groups who differ in their ways of how to best serve Allah.
Kurds in the north, Shiites in the south and Saddam Hussein's Sunnis in the middle, and they hate each other, especially the Kurds, after Saddam Hussein gassed more than 6,000 of their people.
Muslims around the world are indoctrinated at a young age to the teachings of the Koran, which governs every phase of their society and they are never going to change.
There is one thing all Middle East countries agree on: In 1948, the United Nations, with the backing of the United States, removed the Palestinian people from their homeland of thousands of years to create a homeland for the world's Jews and the world's Muslims will never forget that.
The Arab League understands that Israel is a satellite of the United States in the region, and that is where the hatred of the United States is manifested.
In America, we have millions out of work, there are millions living from paycheck to paycheck, the stock market is in the tank, as is the economy, the surplus is gone and the deficit is back in a big way.
Yet our government wants to rebuild Afghanistan and Iraq, even with the multitude of problems we have at home.
Most politicians are well to do, and in no way can they look at life in the United States through the eyes of a working person.
Let's get back to taking care of our own.
