Fuson leads California Cart Retrieval past H.R. Keefer

California Cart Retrieval spotted pitcher Matt Fuson four runs
before he ever stepped on the mound in Tuesdays Majors Bambino
championship game at Salas Park.
It was three more runs than he would need against H.R.
Keefer.
Fuson shut down Keefers lineup, throwing a one-hit shutout and
striking out 14 to lead CCR to a 7-0 victory and its second
straight championship.
My team gave me a lot of support, Fuson said. They hit the
ball really good tonight. I pitched like I normally do, except when
their better hitters came up. Then I threw a little harder.
Keefer didnt pick up its first hit until Zach Massie doubled
with one out in the fourth. Aside from that, Fuson was on top of
his game, walking only one and hitting a batter.
CCR came out swinging, sending eight men to the plate in the top
of the first inning.
After Brennen Miller led off with a walk, Nick Parisi singled to
put runners at first and second. Fuson then hit what looked to be a
harmless grounder to the infield, but the ball was misplayed,
allowing two runs to score and Fuson to reach safely.
Spencer Thomas followed with a two-run blast to right field that
gave CCR a 4-0 lead. Thomas finished with two hits in the game and
had three runs batted in.
CCR added three more runs in the second on four singles and a
walk.
Michael Blackmun started the inning with a single before Keefer
pitcher Kevin Keefer struck out the next batter. CCR then got three
consecutive one-out singles from Parisi, Fuson and Thomas to plate
two runs. Fuson later scored on a wild pitch to give CCR a 7-0
cushion after two.
Parisi had two hits and two runs for CCR, Miller had two hits
and scored once and Blackmun scored twice. Ben Wong added a
hit.
