Lodi Unified School District high schools continued their tradition as industrial-arts powerhouses, taking home almost two dozen awards from a recent contest.

Lodi, Tokay and Bear Creek high school students won gold medals in every drafting event at the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America regional competition, held Saturday in Manteca.

Lodi High garnered the most awards, winning 10 gold medals and seven silver medals.

Tokay and Bear Creek followed with six gold medals each, and six and eight silver medals respectively.

Students test their skills in VICA events, including drafting, auto mechanics, leadership and job interviews.

Ten schools between Lodi and Clovis competed.

Gold medal winners and some silver medal winners earned berths to compete in the state contest in April in Riverside.
