The Lodi News-Sentinel's opinion page once again carried a letter to the editor that drew parallels between the war in Iraq and terrorism on American soil -- a theme reinforced by George Bush in his recent address at Fort Bragg.

The truth is that no such connection has ever been established. Are there 9/11 terrorists in Afghanistan? Yes, definitely, and we have justifiably fought and killed them there.

In Iraq?

No plausible evidence.

It's simply another Karl Rove story to justify a Bush administration policy that is totally out of touch with reality.

We got into this war based on lies -- the wrong way. It's time to get out the right way. We need a real exit plan with a real timeline providing real accountability for our leaders. One thousand seven hundred dead and 12,000 wounded Americans is far too many.

More of the same is no longer acceptable from Bush, and the American people must stand up and make that known.
